Predella, The Blessed Damozel

In 1871, Rossetti was commissioned to paint an illustration of his poem The Blessed Damozel, about lovers separated by death, waiting to be reunited. In 1879 Rossetti added this Predella. Here we see the earthbound lover looking up towards his beloved. |
